Slippery Sunday

Image
No hotter combination than thigh high leg warmers and 7" heels Training for MPD is pretty much in full swing at the moment, if I'm not at the studio training I'm thinking about training, and if I'm not doing either of those I'm usually in a hot epsom salt bath recovering from training.  One thing I really really hate about pole, is turning up to the studio to train and not being able to stick, no matter how many different grip aid combinations I try. The pole turns into a brass spinning stick of death, and the question I have to ask myself, do I want to die today.  Because I have to travel so far to get to the studio it seems like a waste of time warming up, trying to do something for half an hour then giving up and going home, so when this happens I pull on my leg warmers (or pants) and get down on the floor.  Today was one of those days and as frustrating as it was I still managed to have some fun. I've started playing aro...

Pole Grooves - Strong (New YouTube Video)

Image
I haven't posted a video on YouTube in a while, but after this weeks pole grooves routine I just had to post this video. Not because I thought I danced it overly well but for the routine itself. It was so beautiful to dance, one of those routines were I got lost in the music and chorey. Here it is: Strong, Choreographed by Chilli Rox  Billie xxx

Freestyle Video

So a few days ago Shimmy posted on her blog about free styling, after finally getting around to reading it today there was on thing that really stuck with me, a quote from Kelly Yvonne   " No! Never apologise for your movement! Never apologise for your dancing! "   So after reading Shimmy's post I felt a bit brave, I actually video'd myself free styling to a Rihanna song at the beginning of the year and I've just uploaded it to YouTube. On the day when I'd finished the Freestyle I could't watch it because I felt like what I had done wasn't perfect. About a week later I did end up watching it and while it wasn't as bad as I thought I still was pretty unhappy about it so decided not to put it on YouTube.  After watching it again tonight after I uploaded it, I actually don't think it's as bad as I originally thought, being the perfectionist that I am I probably should come to terms with the fact that there is always something that I'...

Flexibility with Luxe

Image
Luxe One thing I really want to work on more this year is my flexibility, over the break between terms Luxe ran two contortion workshops at Bobbis Gold and they were great, the first one we focused on splits and a bit of back bending and the second one on mainly back bending.  This term I've enrolled in her flexibility class and after the first class today I'm pretty excited to see how much I can improve my flexibility. I'm pretty flexible already, I can already do the splits on my left, right and centre, but when I do my front splits I always have my hips open instead of square. So that's my main goal at the moment, to get both my left and right splits with my hips completely square. I'm going to have to make sure that I stretch during the week when possible. I also want to improve my back and shoulder flexibility so I'll work on those as well. I also want to be able to get my leg behind my head in a leg mount on both sides as well as improve my overspi...

Blood, Sweat and Sequins

Image
If you're in Australia you need to pick up your diary, calendar, iPhone whatever and put a reminder in there for the 24th January 2013! Because on this day the documentary Blood, Sweat and Sequins will be aired on SBS. Blood, Sweat and Sequins follows Chelle Hafner, Cleo and Miss Filly as they prepare to compete for the title of Miss Pole Dance Australia 2012. The trailer looks amazing, giving you a glimpse into the lives and training schedules of some of Australia's best pole dancers.  You can watch the trailer  HERE Billie xxx

Miss Pole Dance Australia 2013

The night of nights on the Aussie Pole dancing calendar has been and gone and OMG what a night it was!! Its been just over a week since the final, I would have posted this sooner but for some reason my lap top has been very uncooperative.  Nothing beats the atmosphere at the Enmore theatre on MPDA Finals night, you can practically see the excitement in the air (in my head it's all glitter), everyone in the audience is buzzing discussing who they can't wait to see perform and who they think will win. This year I actually went in with a list in my head of 7 or 8 of the finalists that I thought might take the title, I honestly couldn't pick one clear favourite. Even after all the girls had competed I still couldn't decide between about 5 of them. I really don't envy the judges it would have to be one of the hardest jobs in the world! Judges Bobbi didn't disappoint with the opening number, once again another spectacular start to the night, I think it...

THANK YOU!!!!!!

Image
So now that MPD Heats are over and the Wild cards for the Final on November 10th have been announced, there are a few people I need to thank. Georgia Moon - for taking the idea that was hidden in my head somewhere, and making it a reality.. the most AMAZING costume I have ever owned. You are a genius! Slynk, for mixing my music, after my hours of attempting to do it myself ended up as a massive fail. It was perfect! My Family, for not complaining to much about me being so absent this year, having only Sunday's to train on MPD related things by myself meant I missed out on a lot of family get togethers. Thank you for always being so supportive of me, not just for this journey but for my general love of pole.  Mum, Dad and my sister Caitlin, thanks for putting up with me and what can only be described as my neurotic behaviour over the last 8 months. I haven't been the most pleasant person over that 8 months... but you still love me right? Kylie and Case! Thanks ...

Miss Pole Dance Australia NSW Heats!!

So I know I haven't posted in a while, but the last couple of weeks have been pretty busy with MPD preparations etc. But now it's all over and MY GOD WAS IT FUN!! Lucky me got to have the Wednesday, Thursday before the comp and the Friday of the comp off work!! YAY for sleeping in! Having the time off work was probably one of the best things I did. I got to go into the studio on Wednesday and run through my routine once more as well as practice in my costume. Which was my main concern. There were a lot of different parts to my costume and I really needed to make sure that I practiced taking each bit off so that it all looked seamless. I actually had a pretty shitty run though on Wednesday, and a few of the times that I practiced in my costume I struggled getting bits of it off.  bit of pre show fun with Sparx she loves a good boob grab Thursday I got my extensions re-taped, and the hair tinsel put in my hair and a spray tan. Then went home and made a list of the things ...

ONE WEEK TO GO!!!

Image
HOLY SHIT! How did it get to be a week before the heats already? So far everything is going pretty well, I'm over my cold and feeling great, saw my osteo yesterday and got my shoulder and rib looked at and my back and neck cracked!!  Picked up my amazing costume last week!! AHH IT'S SO AWESOME I LOVE IT!! It's sparkly and beautiful and beyond anything I could have imagined, worth every single cent I paid for it!! When Georgia sent me through the picture when she was finished I squealed like a girl (I was at work at the time) and almost burst into tears!!  I was so excited when I picked it up I may have worn part of it on the drive home hahaha :)  I can't wait till after it's over so I can post up pictures so everyone can see it!! Sorry but no photo's or hints before Friday night, I want it to be a surprise!! I also managed to put the finishing touches on my routine on Sunday and do the whole thing in full without dying! so that's a relief. So I ha...

Need some inspiration??

Image
If you're a pole dancer and you don't know who Cleo is there's a good chance you've been living under a rock. Cleo is an instructor at Bobbis Pole studio, the current Miss Pole Dance NSW and more importantly MISS POLE DANCE AUSTRALIA 2012!! Cleo started teaching at Bobbis in 2010, I actually remember seeing her come in to teach her first class (advanced) and how nervous she looked. Now two and a half years later, it's amazing to see how much she has transformed as a dancer/performer. Watching the DVD from the Miss Pole Dance Australia Final in 2009 and then watching her routine from the next year and then watching her winning performance from last year is nothing short of inspiring. It just goes to show how much difference some time and dedication can make. And it's not just her dancing that's inspiring, listening to Cleo talk about the next show she's planning and how excited she gets about the whole creative process makes you want to start planning y...
