Well that was a waste of shaving cream

Okay, maybe I'm being a little bit dramatic, it wasn't a total waste of shaving cream but to be honest I don't feel like I accomplished anything yesterday at all.

Crappy training sessions are the worst, especially when you turn up to train with a head full of ideas and a list of things that you need to work on, and NOTHING works.

On Thursday I realised that it's only THREE MONTHS until the heats of Miss Pole Dance and I started to freak out a little, 3 months sounds like a long time, but when you can only train one day a week 3 months is not a long time at all. It really is time to get serious, so yesterday I drove to Bobbis Miranda studio because I couldn't make it to the city studio today (Sunday) for practice time.

I was pretty excited to go to the Miranda Studio, I've only ever been there once before and I love the fact that not many people there know me so I can just do my own thing and not have to worry about getting distracted. I went with a mental list of things that I needed to work on, dead lifts, batwing and a few other bits and pieces. So I was prepared for everything, everything except not being able to stick. BALLS!  I wasn't super slippery, but slippery enough so a couple of the things that I needed to work on were near impossible to accomplish not matter how hard I tired, I left the studio 2 hours later feeling frustrated and upset and questioning whether I was actually good enough to be even entering MPD. It was a great way to top of the shitty week I'd had. I thought about packing up and going home a few times but since I'd driven all the way out there I decided to just work on the things I could, something is better than nothing right?

24 hours later and I still feel pretty crappy and upset about my shitty training session, it however got me thinking about all the amazing pole stars out there and whether they go through the same thing, surely they have really crappy pole days too? Though to be honest I can't imagine the likes Felix Cane, Jenyne Butterfly or Alethea Austin etc. ever having this problem, they're practically super human. I think it'd be kind of nice to read a Facebook update from any pole superstar saying what a shitty pole day that they'd had, that they couldn't' get a move that they've been doing for ages, or that they were having so much trouble sticking to the pole they had to just give up and go home. It sure would make me feel a bit better after having a shit pole day knowing that even the most amazing pole dancers on the planet have shitty pole days too.

At the end of the day I know it's stupid to judge my pole ability on one days training, these things happen and all it really takes to get back on track is an awesome pole day to get that confidence back again. And if you're having a really shitty day, go home and cuddle a puppy (or kitty), those adorable little balls of fluff are a great mood lifter :)

Crappy Pole Days suck, but a crappy pole day is always beats a good day at work.. Unless pole is your day job, in that case I envy you :p

  1. I think they absolutely have bad pole days, they're human. :) Try to give yourself some patience and forgiveness like you might if a good friend was having a shitty pole day. Hang in there!
